Is electricity included in rent at a Texas apartment?

Most apartment communities bill electricity directly to the resident rather than including it in rent, often through a sub-meter or a RUBS (Ratio Utility Billing System) allocation. Confirm the exact billing method with the leasing office before signing.

Do I need to pay a deposit to set up electricity at my apartment?

Not necessarily. Ambit Energy offers no-deposit enrollment for residents who qualify through an instant credit check or a letter of good payment history from a prior electric provider. Residents who don't qualify may be assessed a refundable deposit determined at signup.

How many days before move-in should I set up electric service?

We recommend enrolling electric service 3-5 days before your lease start date to make sure the meter is active on move-in day. If the address already has an existing meter, Ambit Energy can often activate service the same business day instead.

Can I have Ambit Energy service in my apartment complex?

That depends on your apartment complex. Ask your leasing office for details on your energy options.

Which internet provider should I choose for my apartment?

The best internet provider varies by city and building. Each apartment guide in this directory lists the internet providers available at that specific address, sorted by coverage and fiber availability.
